Headaches are caused by a variety of factors ranging from excessive sound and light to dehydration and an unbalanced diet. Overworking, mental stress, hypertension and fatigue are some of the main causes of headaches, and keeping the body stress free will prove beneficial in overcoming headaches.
Hunger is also known to cause headaches, and it is therefore advised that all meals be taken regularly. In most cases, headaches do not require urgency of medical attention, and can be taken care of by over the counter prescriptions, such as paracetamol or aspirin. An overdose of any of these medications, however, can lead to serious complications, such as liver damage. In the case of recurring headaches, it is advised that a record be maintained of the occurrence and symptoms associated with the headaches, as well as the factors that cause any aggravation. Visiting a doctor is also recommended to ascertain the cause of these persistent headaches.

This not only reduces the headache, but also cuts out gas that has been formed. A paste of salt crystals and clove, added to milk help in reducing the intensity of headaches because of the hygroscopic nature of salt, which absorbs excess fluids from the head that apply pressure on the temples. Eucalyptus oil has excellent medicinal properties, and when applied on the head, neck and shoulders, will reduce soreness and headaches caused by stress.
